Julie A. Birdwell was born in Oklahoma in 1967. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1990 with a B.A. in English Literature. She received a B.S. in Microbiology from the same institution in 1992. She received a dual degree (J.D./M.S., in Biology) from the University of Tulsa in December of 1995.

Julie worked as a law clerk with the firm during the summer of 1993. She joined the firm as an associate in 1996, focusing on all aspects of trademark prosecution and litigation and on patent application preparation and prosecution in the area of biotechnology. She is a member of the State Bar of Tennessee. After returning from maternity leave, Julie currently works on a part-time basis.
